Dinner at home - from the garden!

P1060266

My veggie garden provided some of the ingredients for our dinner!!! Very very exciting to get to eat something I grew myself!

P1060267

I recieved this Thai Marinade paste when I went to Black Pearl Epicure for a fantastic Bloggers dinner and pantry tour, so I decided to put it to use right away.

P1060272

I marinaded some tofu in one bowl, and some chicken thigh in another bowl.

I left it for only about half an hour, since this was not a well thought out dinner, and we were hungry!

I then simply stir fried the chicken or tofu with some vegies, and a splash of soy sauce to  create a very tasty meal! Both dishes were served with some brown rice!

here is my dinner - the tofu version!

and Janets meal - the chicken version!

The marinade had a really fresh zingy flavour! And my lovely fresh vegies were absolutely delicious!!!!

dinner at home - noodles

Noodles and vegies with some sort of meat from the freezer :-)  (possibly veal!)

Noodles and vegies with Tofu!!

I marinated both the meat and tofu in soy, brown sugar and lemon juice before pan frying.  The noodles and vegies were simply stir fried with some of the marinade from the tofu. Easy and delicious dinner!!

Dinner at home - Spagetti with Tofu or Chicken

Spagetti with sauce out of a jar - it was a Leggo's Pasta Bake sauce, but I didn't bake it - just stirred it through the spagetti, along with some baby spinach, Served with either Chicken or Tofu - both of which I marinated in garlic and fresh herbs and a littel olive oil before pan-frying until the Tofu was crispy, and the chicken was cooked through. Delicious!!

Phuket Thai - Browns Plains

We got a takeaway menu in our letterbox for a Thai restaurant at Browns Plains. I think is where there used to be an Indian restaurant. So we decided to ge some takeaway....

Some vegie spring rolls, which were very tasty

Stirfry tofu with Cashews for me - lots of tofu in this one, I could only eat half of the container - so there is another dinner in the freezer for another day

Sweet & Sour Lamb for Janet.

Might have to go back here again sometime to eat in, since eating in is always better than takeaway -  although it was a little tricky to get to be facing the correct way on the road to turn into the shops.

Sunday Dinner - Far East, Browns Plains

We grabbed some takeaway from "Far East" at Westpoint, Browns Plains. We were late home and I hadn't organised any dinner, so this was a lovely solution! Its a busy shop.

Janet had lemon chicken

I ordered from the "noodle" menu. Although I didn't have noodles - I had steamed rice, Tofu, vegies in sweet Thai sauce. Delicious!

We also had some vegie spring rolls, which were excellent!

Out to Dinner - July - Shala Thai, Browns Plains

We were actually planning to go to the new Montezumas at Browns Plains, but so it seems was everyone else. Next time we will book :-) So we happily went to the new Thai place instead.

Fresh flowers on the table

We were given a complimentary plate of prawn chips, which Janet enjoyed.

Whats this? no spring rolls for me? I branched out and ordered the Tofu satay. This was delicious! Crispy on the outside, soft in the centre with a tasty sauce. This would have done me as a main meal.
Janet had the Spring Rolls - these were meaty ones

Steamed rice - yum!
I chose the mongolian tofu - it had a very gingery tang to the sauce. They had heaps of tofu options on the menu, and I want to go back and try some others! I couldn't eat all of this, and took the rest home for another day!

Janet had the honey king prawns

location : shop 5/18 commerce drive, browns plains (behind bunnings)

Food Court Lunch

Weekends sometimes (or quite often even) mean lunch at the foodcourt at Grand Plaza.

This has become my regular choice - 2 x vegetarian & 1 x avocado sushi rolls with a can of V. I love the tofu in the vegie rolls. Its lovely and sweet. I just have to remove the cucumber before I eat them, because cucumber is evil :-)

This is Janet's lunch of choice. A small chicken royale value meal from Hungry Jacks.

Out to Dinner May (#1) - The Golden Dragon, Roma

We were in need of dinner and Chinese sounded like a good idea. So it was off to The Golden Dragon in Roma. (the name did draw us in, since its the same name as a Chinese restaurant we go to in Caloundra)

We began with some vegie Spring Rolls. They looked good. Unfortunately they were cold in the middle. So we sent them back and they made us some hot ones.

Janet had Sweet & Sour King Prawns.

And I had tofu & vegie hot pot. Which was tasty, but nothing spectacular.

Possibly the sign should say "Finest Chinese Cuisine in Roma"

On our return trip, we will be looking for somewhere else to try.

Scott's Birthday Dinner

On Saturday night we went out to dinner for Scotts birthday. Unfortunately Gina was sick, so couldn't make it. We went to the Stir Fry Cafe at Jindalee. Which we have been to quite a few times before.

To start with we had some prawn toast.

And some vegie Spring Rolls. The spring rolls might look a little over done, but they tasted delicious.

Then there was some Salt & Pepper White Bait, which is what my parents always order here. It looks a little like crispy white worms. But is reportedly delicious.

Mixed Vegetables - a little too heavy on the onion and very light on the carrot and red capsicum. Nice and crunchy though!

Mongolian Lamb. Scott's Choice. The waitress suggested this as being a very popular dish. Was quite heavy on the vegetables.

My choice - Crispy fried tofu with Salt & Pepper. Really crispy chunks of tofu with a spicy sauce on the side. Inside the crunchy shell was soft silken tofu. Yum!!

Janet's Choice - Honey King Prawns. Shock!!!! Its not Sweet & Sour Pork!!

Then it was off to Mum & Dad's place for present opening. AND CAKE!!

I was playing around with the settings on the camera - trying out the candle light setting.

MMMMMMMM Cake - yummmmmmmm!
